Per, a Managing Director at Woodside Capital, has more than 25 years of experience in the telecoms and IT industry. He has advised tier 1 telcos across the globe on new and innovative product and services, BSS and OSS applications, customer experiences, etc. Per has also worked with several smaller start-up companies and recently assisted a Music App company launch their App on Apple, Android, BB and MS Mobile with content from all the main music labels like Universal. Per was also instrumental in the divestiture of the Symbian development team from Nokia to Accenture involving more than 2,000 people and a 5 years cooperation programme between the two companies. Per has on a number of occasions assessed companies on behalf of VCs/PEs in sales and fundraising situations.
As a VP at Nokia he was responsible for the development of the Symbian Operating System (Symbian was acquired by Nokia were Mr. Selbekk was EVP of SW Engineering) managing over 2,000 in more than 15 locations across the globe.
Prior to this, Per was IT Development Director at the mobile operator Three UK for 4 years. At Three, he and his team took the company through its launch phase, whilst deploying innovative products that leveraged 3G technologies. He also contributed to a state-of-the-art BSS/OSS solutions, which built on many best-in-class applications, and scaled the company’s IT infrastructure ahead of rapid customer growth.
Per has previously held European CIO roles for telecoms provider Carrier1 and UUnet as well as positions in management consulting including assisting new ISPs launch their new services in the ‘90s. Most prominent of those launches were BluFin (Swisscom).
Per has since the end of the 90’s extensively and successfully utilized offshore resources to augment his development and support teams and adopted innovative working practices to get the most out of his outsourcing and offshoring programs in India and China.
